Duane Black Memorial

The Shiawassee County Agricultural Society would like to acknowledge the life and legacy of the late Duane Black with a new LED welcome sign. Duane was instrumental in moving the Fair from McCurdy Park to the current location on Hibbard Road by bringing the community and the Fair board together to make a dream a reality. Duane donated the first building built on the Hibbard Road property; the commercial barn. He was a true community philanthropist and paved the way for the Shiawassee County Fair to grow and succeed through his generous support of the Black Pavilion, beef scales, and livestock pens, just to name a few. Duane has helped shape the Shiawassee County Fair into one of the most well respected and beautiful fairgrounds in the state of Michigan. He served on the Shiawassee County Fair board for 10 years from 1988 – 1998 and during that period, volunteered his time as president for 8 years from 1990 – 1998. His dedication has also helped shape the hearts and minds of our youth to follow the same path with a love for the fair and the life lessons it teaches. We encourage the friends, neighbors, and community members of Duane to contribute to the Duane Black Memorial Fund at the Shiawassee County Fairgrounds to honor his life and legacy with a new LED welcome sign
